Cincinnati is an amazing city nestled along the Ohio River. Known as the "Queen City," "Porkopolis," the "Paris of America," "The City of Seven Hills" and, of course, Cincy. We're a city full of history, sports, art and really good chili.
Cincinnati has definitely been growing in popularity, as it was named one of the best cities for nightlife and a top foodie city. Plus, it recently ranked close to the top of Liability's 2019 list of the best places in the United States to live. Our city offers plenty of great restaurants, picturesque parks, breweries, beautiful homes and a great community of residents — so we don't blame you for wanting to live here!
But before you make the move to our amazing city, there are a few things you should know. From our obsession with the Cincinnati Reds to our resident famous hippo, we've created a complete guide to help your transition into being a Cincinnatian a little easier!
When you move, you'll probably want to invest in a good ice scraper, snow boots, a raincoat, umbrella and a quality sunblock. Our weather rapidly changes, so don't be surprised if you get to experience all four seasons in just one week — it's all a part of being a true Cincinnatian!
Within just six hours, you could be in Indianapolis, Louisville, Nashville and so many other amazing road trip destinations! Plus, we're home to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, making us the perfect home base for travel lovers.
Cincinnati is home to some of the best food in the country. Not only have we been on countless best-of lists for our incredible restaurants, but we also offer unique and delicious takes on popular dishes. We love our Buckeyes, not just the team, but the to-die-for chocolate-covered peanut butter balls that are a staple at every get-together. Goetta, a combination of sausage and oats, is one of our classic favorites. And trying our famous chili (and smothering it on absolutely everything) — is a Cincinnatian rite of passage.
In the late 1800s, Cincinnati was nicknamed the "Paris of America" because of our gorgeous architecture that may or may not have had some influence from popular Parisian landmarks. The Apostolic Bethlehem Temple Church, Cincinnati City Hall, Cincinnati Music Hall and the Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal are just some of the breathtaking Cincy landmarks that should be on your bucket list!
US News named Cincinnati as one of the 25 Best Affordable Places to Live in the U.S. in 2018, which is no surprise to us! For a big city, our living costs are much lower than the national average, allowing you to allocate funds towards more important things — like craft beer and chili.

But we still love the outdoors
Even with the ever-changing weather here in Cincy, we still love the outdoors. The Ohio River, the largest tributary of the Mississippi River, is located along our border and is truly a spectacular sight. If you love boating or want to take out the jet skis, you don't have to travel very far to enjoy all the river has to offer. Cincinnati also maintains a thriving park system that includes more than 100 parks and green spaces throughout our wonderful city. You'll have to choose a side
The East Side vs. West Side debate is completely real, and deciding where your loyalties lie is an incredibly important decision you'll have to make when you move. The dividing line is either Interstate 75 or Vine Street, depending on who you ask, but both sides are completely unique and full of things to do and see.Our food scene is next level

Over the past few years, our city has experienced a resurgence in our drink and craft brewery scene, including the likes of Rhinegeist Brewery, Fifty West Brewing and plenty of other fantastic breweries in the area. Wine lovers will love Henke Winery, but if you're looking for something a bit stronger, head over the river for bourbon from the New Riff Distillery or the Boone County Distilling Company.We love to party

Sports are practically a religion in our neck of the woods, specifically baseball. Be prepared for the entire city to shut down on the Cincinnati Reds' opening day. We are also home to the Cincinnati Bengals, FC Cincinnati, the Cincinnati Cyclones and the Cincinnati Bearcats — so it's pretty impossible not to be a die-hard sports fan.
